Machinists Urge Congress to Hold Amtrak Accountable

The Machinists Union recently sent a letter urging members of Congress to add their names to House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Rep. Dan Lipinski’s (D-IL) letter to Amtrak CEO Richard Anderson.

The letter seeks information on a number of recent changes that have been plaguing Amtrak’s stakeholders, including, but not limited to, passenger rail advocacy groups, Amtrak employee unions, and states whose Amtrak service is at risk of being cut or eliminated.

TCU-IAM members and the Amtrak Service Workers Council (ASWC) have recently been highlighting the attack on workers and long-distance trains.

The Amtrak Service Workers Council (ASWC) is comprised of three unions representing Amtrak service workers: The Transport Workers Union of America (TWU), UNITE HERE and Transportation Communications Union/IAM (TCU/IAM).
